Begam Samru SARDHANA owes its prominence to the Begam Samru. She is also known as Zeb-un-Nissa, and was christened Johanna Nobilis Somer when she was received into the Church. Somer was the adopted name of her husband, Walter Reinhard which was progressively varied to Sombre. She was a highly talented lady of great generosity who died in 1836 aged over 90.
    Old Bishops Palace - now the Girls School
  Before being created a Basilica,the church which she built became a Cathedral for a short time, with its own Bishop. The Bishop's Palace has become a Girls School. Her original palace has now become a seminary for training priests. The New Palace has become the boys school.
